Martina Griewank Ambrozio
Martina Griewank/R. Ambrozio, of German roots, received a Bachelor of dance at the Royal Conservatory Artesis (BE) and postgraduate studies at Marchepied (CH). During her Bachelor studies she began working at Ballet Preljocaj in France and Jan Martens in “I can ride a horse whilst juggling so Marry me”. Then she worked amongst others with Jaco Van Dormael, Ambyer Meyntiens, Caroline De Haese and Dieter Defurne, She began working with the young audiences, in the dance-puppet collaboration Stiltwalker and on a second piece Road obstruction by Natgras (BE). Both piqued her interest in young audience pieces through the joy and excitement of working with the children. To this day she has remained interested in this area of creative work. Since moving to Portugal and her own motherhood Martina has been looking forward to bringing her experience working with children into her duology GALOCHAS & WELLIES and now new creation F(OLHA)/Leave.
Alongside her work as a dancer and maker Martina is an experienced producer in the cultural sector, she directed the intensive course for contemporary dance performers Performact in Torres Vedras from 2016 to 2024. There, her responsibilities ranged from administrative duties, financial supervision to artistic coaching of the students and yoga lessons. Her interest for production began with her work with Untamed Productions (BE) and Summer Intensive (PT), which she also co-directed. She currently is an Expert at the European Commission for the Creative Europe grants while still touring Galochas.
Martina, a mother of two, has seen her passion for creating performances for young audiences blossom. Her experiences in the field have allowed her to develop a strong vision of children's performances which combines interactive elements with artistic abstraction. She defends that some abstraction within the narrative allows each child’s and adult's creativity to thrive.
